About Christopher's Candle
Written by Tina Morris, Mother of Christopher Baker
Christopher's Candle was founded by Jarrod and Tina Morris, and family. We lost our 15 year old son, Christopher to suicide on January 10th, 2007 - 11 days before his 16th birthday. That day has forever changed our lives and placed us on the path through suicide loss. While we never would have chosen this path, we have gained a great deal of experience, strength, and hope from other's who've walked the path before us.
Two months after losing Christopher our family began attending a support group in Rockford, Illinois called Ray of Hope. Walking into the first couple of meetings was difficult to say the least. At the same time, seeing the faces of others in the group was like a ray of sunshine on a black, stormy day. As they shared their stories we felt like we were not alone and we began connecting with them on a deep level. While today is July 8th, 2010 (3 1/2 years later), we still attend Ray of Hope and love the people in the group.
My husband and I try to give back what has been so graciously given to us. We feel Christopher's Candle is one way to give back. This site was created to honor our son, who we love and miss very much, and to provide a comforting and resourceful place for others who have lost a loved one to suicide.
On this site you may light a candle and write a memorial for your loved one, read uplifting stories & articles, find or list a support group, and connect with other's who have lost a loved one to suicide through facebook. If you have an idea for making this site better, please email us at friends@christopherscandle.com. We would love to hear from you.
